- Thales was a Greek mathematician that is said to have traveled to Egypt and calculated the height of the pyramid at Giza by comparing the length of his shadow to the length of the shadow of the pyramid. This comparison using similar triangles is the type of reasoning that we used today to do some math scale problems.
- Thales was known as the "Father of Deductive Reasoning" and is said to be the teacher of Pythagoras.
