Ecclesiastical Joy

“Of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of flesh,” (Ecclesiastes 12:12 KJV). It is true. You know it, I know it, and our teenagers in the deep-end of Omnibus know it. If we are not careful, we can interpret this with the same sentiment that runs wild in a normal school setting; “bla bla bla, books are boring, why do I have to read this? Even the Bible says it’s exhausting!” The blessing of homeschooling our children in the classical Christian tradition, is that we can sidestep right around that mentality and see the study of literature as a gift. Traversing with Virgil through the inferno has a different feeling when our understanding of God’s redemption is at the helm. If the memorization of the torments appropriated to each particular sinner were the culmination of the study, the study would be bleak indeed.

We can be thankful for having many books, and thankful that books keep coming, because the study of God does not make us weary. If you are unfamiliar with Omnibus, check it out here: https://veritaspress.com/omnibus-overview?srsltid=AfmBOopALZxSZatUUIeQehHsHc8Z0Xa8H0tZt4gZZiB_Xa3L1WZsNJgk
