Live Classes Form Community

Looking Back

As this past school year starts to wane, I've met some surprises. One of the most surprising things to me has been how the students in my classes have formed a small community, even though they've never seen each other's faces. Through the live public chat box and the informal meetings like our Monday problem solving club, these kids have been able to share more than just their math education. Truly, our school year ends soon and I am going to be sorry to see them disperse. Their personalities have come through in our live classes and I've really enjoyed it.

The fact that the live classes, although limited in physical connection, have been able to help our children feel included and part of a like-minded group is clearly shown on the rare weeks when my son can't join live. In regards to his writing class he said to me the other day, "the only problem was that I couldn't answer the questions, I kept reaching for the keyboard to chat and remembered that I was watching the recording. It was kind of sad."

If you've been joining our live classes, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. However, if you've been unable to make the live sessions then I hope you'll be able to join our live classes when they start up again this fall.
