We always have grand plans to make Scio better for everyone. Which makes us super excited to share with you what's happening in our writing society.
Amanda is preparing three levels of writing instruction to help us lead our children in the path of becoming great writers.
Let's break some of these down for you:
1. Grammar - this is a self-paced short course with recorded lessons to help our students cement some grammar skills and work towards self-editing and using good grammar the first time.
2. Dialectic Writing - this is a live weekly course for students who are just starting to write formally. This is NOT a full writing course, although you can easily convert it into one. Instead, this course is the weekly support your student needs to build their writing skills. Students can apply the lessons from this course to whatever writing assignments they have from their English class.
3. Rhetoric Writing - this is a live weekly course similar to the Dialectic course above with one simple difference. It's based on the 5 canons of rhetoric and is for more intermediate writers.
These are only the three main courses of the writing society. The writing society includes more classes as well as the incredible editing service that will save the sanity of many homeschool mothers (including Lori's). Because we know, at the end of the day, who has time to edit all of their students' papers?
The Writing Society:
- One grammar course for self-paced grammar study
- Two live weekly writing courses for building writing skills
- Four Shakespeare plays for independent literature study
- One self-editing independent study course
- One writing assignment editing service per month per student (simply email the student's paper to Amanda each month to receive personalized editing and feedback)
