This is not the time to relax in the warm weather...
this is the time to sprint!
Spring is here. Unless you're in Maine or Texas, and then it's mud season or Summer. Pick one. For the rest of us, we can hear the singing of the spring song birds, smell the blossoms on the trees, and see the sun after 6 pm for the first time in months. The hum of activity may tempt us to stop and relish in the beautiful return of warm weather.
While I want to stop with you and enjoy a nice spring stroll by the rushing river, I don't want to lose focus on the completion of this school year. Yes, those homeschool conventions that we went to might have excited us for the upcoming year, but we still need to finish this year. Let's run the race well. This year may have been a breeze for you or it may have been the longest race ever. Either way, now is the time to sprint. Give it your all. Dig your heels in and find your groove. As Paul tells us, run the race that you may win.
How do we do that?
I separate our school year into three semesters: Fall, Winter, and Spring. The spring semester is a half semester, that is 6 weeks Between The End of April and the beginning of June. This short semester achieves a few very important things:
-
- Gives us the excitement similar to a new school year
- Gives us time to focus on areas that may have suffered throughout the year
- Allows us to study certain interests that aren't a full semester worth
In short, it helps us finish the year strong. It keeps us motivated and excited to learn new things. It helps us to sprint to the finish line and stay focused. We bolt for that end mark and crash on the beach knowing that we completed a job well done.
