Dialectic Writing
Dialectic is the study of thinking well, which doesn't sound like writing at all. However, a dialectic student is starting to build the skills of communicating what they are thinking about by learning the basics of writing.
Join Amanda as she reviews the basics of writing in this weekly class. This class contains 3 units. Each unit focuses on specific skills used in written communication. This is course meets weekly and includes monthly writing challenges for students to work through building their communication skills.
Module 1 : Invention : focusing on what to write and how to come up with paragraph topics. Specific writing focus is on paragraph format for simple essays and sentence types.
Module 2 : Arrangement : focusing on how to communicate in written form for a specific purpose. Not all writing is in essay format, instead we sometimes communicate via fiction, research, persuasively, and informally.
Module 3 : Style : focusing on how to make our writing interesting by using phrases, clauses, strong verbs, and other writing tools.
