A Problem a Day…

Keeps the math slump away.

Everyone has experienced the initial fall slump in mathematics that requires a significant review process. In fact, one of the biggest complaints I've heard about some curriculums is that the first few chapters are all review. The math slump is real. There's a saying in the music world that goes like this: "If I don't practice for 1 day, then only I know.  If I don't practice for a week, then only my teacher knows. If I don't practice for a month, then everyone knows." Skills must be practiced. Otherwise, we lose them. Your brain needs to be exercised in order to keep those problem solving skills sharp. Starting another school year in math by going backwards is not ideal. It does not set us up for success. It does not encourage us to work hard. It does not excite us to learn more.

Is the math slump avoidable? Absolutely!

A simple warm up plan for this year's mathematics study is this: complete one review math problem each weekday for the month of August! If you are a math master you have already received your first problem-a-day worksheet. Check your inbox, because every Monday a new 5 problem set is sent out for students exiting the following courses: pre algebra, algebra 1, 2, and 3, geometry, and arithmetic.
