Why Triads?

Homeschool moms are hardcore. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be everything for everyone. It's why I often describe the homeschool mom-life as "being drawn and quartered daily". The list of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks is monumental. You're reading with the first grader, editing the high schooler's paper, washing dishes, cleaning the bathroom, and trying to sneak in time to budget and continue your own education in between. Because if you don't finish reading The Odyssey now,  your kid is going to call you out on it tomorrow. Thankfully, all math questions are sent to Lori, where I gleefully ignore teaching my kids lab science so that I can teach your kids math!

So are math triads from us here at Scio Academy another thing to add to your list? Believe me, we don’t want to add anything to your list. Rather, math triads are here to help relieve your list a bit. Checking our child’s work in mathematics is daunting and difficult, especially if we haven’t been in class with him to see what he’s learning. Manually scanning pages upon pages of math homework to send to Lori isn’t easy or feasible either. The math triad is a midpoint solution to these two problems.

At the end of each chapter, your child can complete a 3 question triad, take a picture of it, and send it to his tutor. You will then receive feedback on the work and get a glimpse of how well your student is mastering the material.  This small slice of accountability is designed to help your child successfully display what he’s been learning as well as help you know that he’s on track. It’s simple, it’s optional, and like everything else at Scio Academy, it’s designed with you in mind. Your sacrifices for your children and family are eternal rewards.

P.S. The math triads are found on the course unit pages, so head over to your dashboard to check them out.
