Am I the only one who has a vision of the ideal? I imagine an ideal curriculum, an ideal format for a text, an ideal school day, and an ideal student. Then I wake up.
I don’t have any of those.
Instead I have a real curriculum, a used text, an ordinary 24 hours, and a less than ideal student. I wonder if that’s how Jesus felt about being human after he knew what it was like to be with God.
It would be so easy to fall into a slump or slough of despondency. Honestly, I do find myself there at times. Yes, we need to remind ourselves that God has given us the yearning for the ideal because He is the ideal. He has placed us in reality so that we will yearn for Him. We are to act in a way that we will be preparing ourselves and our children for the Kingdom of God, while also giving each other grace when faced with reality.
This is a struggle that I have, and a struggle that I fight in my daily repentence to the Lord. If you also find yourself in this struggle, please go to Him and He will give you the strength you need.
